My Tourist Destinations

Travel and Leisure Magazine came out with the most visited tourist attractions in the world. With Time Square in NYC being the most visited. Here is the complete list: Tourist Attractions.

I've been to most of those places, just not the Grand Bazzar or Disney Land in California. I think their list isn't even close. How can a train station be a more visited tourist attraction than the one of the most popular streets in the world, Les Champs-Elysees? I have been there too. So I think that list is garbage I'm making my list of tourist places people should check out.

5. Sadona, AZ- Many of you may have never heard of this place but it is beautiful. It has scenery that compares to the Grand Canyon and has the town like feel of Door County. The best part of my trip out there was the the Pink Jeep Tour. It's like a roller coaster in the wild.

4. Musee de l'Amree (Army Musium) Paris - When people go to Paris they see the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, and Notre Dame. The best place I saw in Paris was the Musee de l'Amree which is attached to Napoleons Tomb. It was a beautiful huge building and had war artifacts from every war since King Louis XIV. There is knight armor from King Louis himself. Most of the history in that building is older than this country. If you're ever in Paris, you need to check it out.

3. Niagara Falls- Another beautiful work of nature. I've never seen a bluer river. Plus you can get wet in most of the walk ways or boat rides which I always enjoy.

2. Disney World- It's a magical place and there is something there for everyone weather you are 2 or 92. They have thrill rides, great shows, and you get to meet some of the most recognizable characters ever.

1. Lambeau Field- I tried to leave my sports bias out of this but Lambeau Field is too great to leave out. This history and the environment are great, especially on game days but even on non-game days there is plenty to do. The Packers Hall of Fame is one of a kind and I've been told it's much better than the one in Canton. There is also a great restaurant/bar in the facility. Now they have tours which allows you to get an inside look of the greatest stadium and in my opinion, the greatest tourist attraction in the world.

Ginger Seal Shunned

Lately gingers have been getting the short end of the stick. "South Park" didn't do redheads any favors with the ginger episode a few years ago and last week the worlds largest sperm bank said they are no longer taking donations from redheads. Apparently this discrimination towards gingers is going on throughout the animal kingdom. This baby seal from Russia has been abandoned by its mother and stays away from the rest of the harem of seals.

The redness comes from accumulation of iron in its fur. The poor thing is also nearly blind. The photographer took the pup to an aquarium where it is being cared for. I have many redheaded friends and have a ginger beard myself so this story is sad on a few levels. Gingers need love too so this one is for all of you redheads out there, you guys rock!

Come Back To Theaters

How upset are you if you released a new movie last weekend and lost to a movie that's from 1994? Well it just happened for the 2nd week in a row. One of my childhood favorites "The Lion King" topped "Moneyball" by $2 Million. I might go ahead and see it once again and relive some of that childhood magic. I started thinking about what other movies I'd like to see back in theaters or even better, go back in time and see them when they are actually released.

1st is the Star Wars a New Hope and Empire Strikes Back- I wish I could have experienced the emotion when Luke found out Darth Vader was his father. I can't imagine everyone's shock. Plus a great space movie on the big screen...awesome.

2nd- Terminator 1 and 2- Same thing, great action movie on the big screen.

3rd- Beauty and the Best - When I was little I saw this 3 times in the theater, which is a big deal for a 6 year old or however old I was. I'd love to relive that and see it again, not in one of the megaplexes but in a small town type theater like I did in downtown Menasha or Neenah.

4- Casablanca- It's one of the best films of all time and to see a classic movie, in black in white on the silver screen would give a real sense of old Hollywood.

Morning with Bart

This morning Bart from "Mornings with Bart" was kind enough to let me join him on his show. We talked Packers with Spike and Brain Carriveau. I was kind of ripped a little for picking the Bears over the Packers this weekend. I'm a huge Green Bay fan but I just think its going to be one of those weeks in the NFL where things don't go right for the better team. We also talked to our movie expert Popcorn Jake. He recommended checking out "Moneyball" and "Dolphin Tale" for the family. I'm excited to see "Moneyball." I think Brad Pitt is a great actor and I enjoy Jonah Hill's films plus people love the underdog story.

I was able to join Bart this morning because the 2nd Shift is going to be cut short tonight because Nick Thomas is going to be bringing you some high school football action between crosstown rivals St. Mary's Springs and WLA. Nick starts coverage at about 6:45. On today's shortened show I'm going to talk about how Beyonce wants to start a record label and a boy band. All I can say is I want in.. I've always not so secretly wanted to be in a boy band. Unfortunately I can't sing or dance. (yes that's me dancing at the Timber Rattlers from this past summer). I hope everyone has a fun and safe weekend and I'll be back (after today's show of course) for the 2nd Shift on Monday 3pm-9pm.

You Can't (or Shouldn't) Do That!

Today I talked about how playing Adeles "Someone Like You" has been banned in a Dublin piano store because the employees were sick of hearing patrons TRYING to play the song. I understand their frustration. I wouldn't want to hear the same song be butchered over and over again. It got me thinking about things that people should be banned from doing even though I'm guilty of most of these things too.

Singing- I have no problem if you are in the car alone or in the shower and you sing your lungs out. I do it myself. But try and keep it there. Most of us are pretty tone deaf. I know how much fun it is singing to your favorite jam but there is a reason that person is on the radio and you aren't. I'm guiltily of this too but if you catch me doing this, please stop me.

Accents and impressions- When done well, these can be hilarious. When done poorly...well its kind of annoying. Once again I'm as guilty as anyone when it comes to trying to do impressions of movie quotes or Sean Connery from SNL but 90% of the time they're not close and not funny. Chances are when you do them you'll have the same results.

The worst part about all of these are people that are singing or doing impressions don't realize that they aren't any good or worse they think they're good. So be a good pal and let your friends know if they are singing poorly or doing bad impressions. It'll save them the embarrassment.

Weird News from Across the Pond

The Weird News from Across the Pond has left me kind of speechless today. It's the story of a boy who as lived in the woods with his father for the past five years. Instead of me telling the story here's the link: Boy in Woods The only thing I really have to say about this I hope its not a hoax and I'll try and keep you up to date as the story develops.

Professor...

For today's Weird News from Across the Pond we looked at a phony professor page on Trinity College of Dublin's website. Their new English professor was Conan T. Barbarian. I think that's a great prank. It's funny, no one gets hurt and it's well thought out. Great writing too.

I started to think who I'd want my professor to be. Of course it's Mr. Feeny. But that's too easy and he was actually a professor. So here a list of unrealistic professors I'd want.

My English professor I'd want Captain Jack Sparrow. He's very well spoken, witty, quick on his toes, and is worldly. What more could you want from a professor, except maybe some hygiene.

My science professor I'd want Dr. Frankenstein (Gene Wilder of course). He knows about biology, chemistry, physics, weather, and electricity. He's knows it all plus what other mad scientist can sing and tap dance like him.

My history professor I'd want Grandmother Willow from Pocahontas. She's a tree. She's been around a while. Plus she's wise and has some good old fashion sass too.

Google Yourself

Today we talked about a woman who lost her job because a company didn't do a proper background check. They used google. So I thought it would be fun to google myself and I was surprised with the results. The main reason I was surprised was because I did this about a year ago and the results are very different. Last year most of the results were for Scott Frassetto, not Scot Frassetto. Scott Frassetto just so happens to be the drummer for Moby. However, when I googled myself today, I came up a lot. Links to my profile when I was with the Green Bay Bullfrogs is the first thing that came up. I thought that was weird because I haven't been there since 2009. Other links on the first page of google were some track records, my old twitter account, some blogs, and other whitepages type things. At first, Google images has only one photo of myself but after I revised the search to only Scot with one "t" some very old photos come up from when I went to Belize with the Milwaukee Zoo Society when I was in high school.

Try it. Google yourself. Not only is it interesting and fun, but it can better protect your image if there are things you may not want people to see or if there is false information about you online.

My Toy Hall of Fame

The National Toy Hall of Fame is pretty spot on as far as what toys are gracing its halls. The hall was established in 1998. Here’s a complete list of toys in the hall to date. The National Toy Hall of Fame does include some of my favorite toys but it is missing a few so I now give you the Scot Frassetto Toy Hall of Fame.

Ball- The simplest toy but you can play catch, kickball, 4 square, the list goes on forever. This toy spans over all generations. Plus it’s a toy that keeps you active.

Mini Gumball Machine Football Helmets- These are what got me interested in broadcasting. I would play with these and do play by play moving the helmets around my floor. I even kept the scores and stats on notebooks.

Big Wheel- This is in the National Toy Hall of Fame as it should be. As a former Big Wheel Champion at the Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, I don’t know how my childhood would have been without this toy. I remember my first big wheel. It was red, yellow, and black with a cobra on it. I loved racing my friends or pushing it around in the snow.

GI Joes- I’m assuming the GI Joes in the Hall are the original GI Joes. Those were fine but I played with the smaller ones from the 80’s and 90’s from the cartoon. Out of all the toys I had I probably spent most time playing with my GI Joes.

Hot Wheels- Get this toy in the Hall of Fame!!! Possibly the best toy ever. Popular when my dad was a kid, popular when I was a kid, popular now. Play with them, collect them it doesn’t matter. My favorite thing was to race them on the ramps that Hot Wheels made. A few years ago my cousins and myself (all of us but one were out of high school) set up the ramp and had race offs all afternoon. Man I loved being a kid.

I Couldn't Live Without...

Today's "Weird News from Across the Pond" came from England. It was a survey of adults saying what they couldn't live without. Facebook ranked above flushing toilets. At first I thought that their priorities may have been slightly messed up but after making my list of things I couldn't live without, I might have some issues of my own.

10. K017.1- Ok, I didn't even know K107.1 existed until I went to college but now, I don't know what I'd do with out it. I spent 8 hours a day here and when I'm not here I'm listening. Plus it seems like a good way to get on the bosses good side : )

9. Spell Check- If you've read some of these blogs you probably figured out I can't spell. I blame my parents for spelling my name with only one "t". Without spell check there is no way I would've graduated college.

8. Auto Mobile- The freedom that a car, truck, or mini van (I used to drive a mini van and loved it) isn't often recognized. If I want to go up north and experience the wild I can, if I want to drive to Chicago to visit a big city I can, but with out my vehicle that couldn't happen. Plus it's nice not having to walk or bike to work in -20 degree weather.

7. Bike-I put bike before car because I did live with out a car. It's still means for transportation but it's also recreation and for fitness. Now if I could just take care of one of my bikes without needed to repair it every month.

6. Fridge- This is one that I seriously don't know how people lived without and most people take for granted.

5. Cell phone- I remember surviving without a cell phone but I don't remember how. It must have been such a pain. I know some people don't like the idea of always being connected and I feel bad for the pay phone but I don't think people could function anymore with out the cell.

4. Pizza- It's diverse, it's cheap, its available, its rarely bad, and historically people need to eat to live.

3. Family/friends- This one might sound sappy but my friends and family mean everything to me and always tell me where the good pizza is or how to make it in order for me to eat.

2. Cable- When your friends and family aren't around, tv is a great replacement and without cable there's no sports and without sports I don't think I'd care to be here.

1. Water- This is the most realistic, you actually need it to survive. You drink it, clean with it, drive atv's though it (one of my favorite activities.)

Things that didn't make the cut. Toliet, outhouses do just fine...I guess. Sorry Britians for saying you were crazy. Internet, The only thing I do on the internet is waste time. I suppose it's nice having information at your finger tips but I don't need to write papers anymore so I don't care. Let me know what you don't think you could live without, either on Facebook or email me at scot@k107.com

Week 1 In the Books...and a Moose

Thanks to everyone that's been listening to "The Second Shift with Scot Frassetto" and been reading the blog this week. I hope you've enjoyed it. Now that I have my feet wet a little bit we can get into some daily features. One thing that I'm excited to start next week is the "Movie Quote of the Day." Around 4:20ish I'll play a movie quote. If you call in with the correct film the quote is from you'll win some goodies.

Today I started a segment I'm going to call "News from Across the Pond." Everyday I'll share some weird news story from Europe. Today's story might be the best one I'll ever find. A moose in Sweden got drunk on fermented apples and got stuck in a tree. I know.

If you ever have any ideas, feedback, or suggestions you can let me know at scot@k107.com I hope to see you out at Fondue Fest tomorrow. I'll be there at 10am giving away some Brewers tickets and having a good time. Everyone have a fun and safe weekend and I'll talk to you again on Monday 3-9 on "The 2nd Shift with Scot Frassetto."

NFL Kick Off

It's finally here! My favorite time of the year. NFL football is kicking off in just a few hours and this year the Packers get to kick off the entire thing. This could be one of the biggest games ever in Lambeau. Coming off a Super Bowl Victory, facing the previous Super Bowl Champions and the lock out makes this one of the most anticipated games I can remember. Except for the fact that this game isn't that important in the grand sceem of things. I know there's hype, I'm excited too, but this game won't put the Pack in the playoffs, or bring the Lombardi Trophy home. It's week one. Still, I'm cheering for the Pack all the way and expect a big year from them, although I don't think they'll repeat. Here's my 2011 NFL predictions:

Micheal Vick won't win the MVP, he'll get hurt and Vince Young will revise his career. We'll also see (or we're seeing right now) the tail end of the great career of Payton Manning. Phillip Rivers will win the MVP barely edging out Aaron Rogers.

Green Bay will take the NFC North in a much tighter race than people think. Atlanta wins the South. Sam Bradford puts the Rams back in the playoffs winning the West. Eagles win the East

The two wild card teams will be the Saints who if healthy could get back to the Super Bowl and the Cowboys who will have a bounce back season.

In the AFC the Chargers will win the West with Rivers MVP type season, the Steelers win the North, the Patriots will win the East, and the Texans will make their first trip to the playoffs once again because of Payton Manning. The two wild card teams should be the Jets and the Ravens.

NFC Divisional Round I have the Packers beating Atlanta and the Saints beating the Eagles

AFC Divisional Round it'll be the Chargers over Patriots and the Jets over the Steelers

NFC Championship-I think the Saints get revenge after losing to the Packers to open the season and get back to the Super Bowl. It's just too hard to repeat in this league.

AFC Championship-I have the Chargers handing the Jets their 3rd straight AFC Championship lose.

Super Bowl- I believe that the Chargers will bring the Lombardi Trophy back to Southern California just in time for the San Diego fans to see it before the team announces it's moving to LA.

Hopefully I'm wrong and the green and gold can repeat but either way, lets celebrate the greatest time of the year, FOOTBALL SEASON! Go Pack Go!

Made it Through My 2nd Day, Unlike These McDonald's Meals

Yea!!! I'm still here. They haven't gotten rid of me yet. I've successfully lasted 2 days (so far). That's more than I can say about this list of failed Mc Donald Menu items. I was going to put the photo of the McLobster up but if I had to look at that again I was going to be sick. The other thing that surprised me was the fact that they tried the McAfrika twice. After the first flop where they needed to apologize to the public I figured McDonald's would've learned their lesson. Not all of their ideas seem awful though. I've often wondered what a fast food pizza would taste like and I have a few friends that have had the McHotDog and they said it wasn't bad.

This got me thinking of some things that aren't made anymore that I really miss. The big thing that comes up and I'd say 95% of people my age would agree with me...SURGE!!! Surge is a Mountain Dew type soft drink that was released in the US in '96. It was discontinued in 2002. However, there is hope. Norway is the lone place on Earth that still has Surge. Bottom line... BRING SURGE BACK!

The other thing that I miss is Hi-C's Ecto Cooler. It was basically just orange flavored Hi-C but GREEN. Oh yea, it had Slimer on the box. I love "Ghostbusters" and Slimer so anytime Mom packed me an Ecto Cooler in my lunch for school it was a treat. The Ecto Cooler release coincided with "The Real Ghostbusters" cartoon in "87. The cartoon ended in '91 but Slimer stayed on the box until around '97.

Pizza Face

Most of the time being called a pizza face is a bad thing but check out what happens when PizzaExpress makes these music icons into pies. Check out all of the cheesy rockers:http://www.entertainmentwise.com/photos/62718/1/Rihanna-Madonna-And-More-Get-Their-Face-In-Pizza

2nd Shift with Scot Frassetto

Hey people in radio land. I'm Scot Frassetto, new host of The 2nd Shift on K107.1 in Fond du Lac. Welcome to my blog! I figure this first post will be a good way for some of you to get to know me better since hopefully we'll be spending a lot of time together.

I'm originally from Kimberly, WI and up until yesterday lived there pretty much my entire life except for college, where I went to UW-Oshkosh majoring in Radio/TV/Film. I also ran track at UW-O and was sports director at the student TV and Radio station.

I think of myself as a big sports fan. I love the Packers, Badgers, Redwings, Brewers, Nascar and the Italian National Soccer team. I played soccer in high school and also ran track in high school and still enjoy a pick up game of whatever people are playing. My unrealistic sports goal in life is to go to every major stadium in the US, Canada, and Europe. My realistic sports goal is to bike around Lake Winnebago.

Since graduating college a few years ago I've had over 10ish jobs. I lost count. I've been a life guard, unloaded trucks, did play by play for the GB Bullfrogs, mowed lawns, worked at a radio station in Appleton, ran camera for the Timber Rattlers, was production assistant for the Timber Rattlers, worked for Time Warner Cable Sports doing high school remotes, and coached track just to name a few. But finally K107.1 is giving me a chance to focus on just one job (even though I'll still try and work a million.)

Some weird quirks about myself are... Well first off, my name is spelt with only one "T" Scot. I tell people that it's to save money on ink or because my parents couldn't spell (which is only half true). I tend to quote movies too often in regular conversation, and my biggest fear in life is trying foods. So more for you.

My dad works at a paper mill and my mom does payroll for a company in Appleton. I have a younger brother, a sister in-law and a younger sister. My brother is a graphic designer and my sisters are in college.

I'm very excited to join the Fond du Lac/Oshkosh community. I hope we can have some fun times together. I'll talk to you weekdays 3-9pm .
